For those who are on a phone, the notification light and other notifications can be a bit intimidating to deal with. With Find My Phone, you can find it in the menu, and the settings have a new option that doesn’t force you to switch on the notification slider.
Samsung is adding it to their menu though, so you might not feel as overwhelmed unless you happen to be on a phone.

So, you have a phone that you want to check for new messages, but you can’t. I say, use Find My Phone. Not to worry. It’s not your phone, it’s not your data, and it’s not your computer. It’s a phone. And now it’s your phone, and you can’t just use it, either. You must use it.

Samsung’s Find My Phone feature is a bit more insidious than many people realize. In order to use it, you first have to connect to the device using SSO, which is an enterprise-wide authentication process. This is not just for corporate devices, but even just your own personal phone. By default, this will make your phone ring when you log in to your Samsung account, so you don’t need to wait for it to ring just to use the phone.
It does this by sending your phone’s SMS message to a server that automatically downloads the message and stores it locally on your device. You can disable the ability to receive SMS messages from your Samsung account and force the message to be downloaded to your phone, but this is not really a great user experience. It’s just a bit of a nuisance to have to click “unlock phone” if you just want to use your phone.
You might also want to disable the notification on your phone to prevent people from leaving your phone in the dark. If your Samsung phone has an internal notification, this will prompt you to use it. You can then disable it by pressing the “Disable” button.
