does facebook notify of screenshots

This is a question I get asked quite a bit. I think the answer is no, but I don’t know what the answer is.

The most common reason for a screenshot to be shared on facebook is (very likely) because you’ve taken a picture of something and it’s now in a status update. This is a fact.

Its a fact.

So that’s a no. But my own personal opinion is that you should probably make sure you know you can share a screenshot. After all you might want to use the screenshot as a reference point for some future work. Its a very powerful thing to be able to link to something that youve done on your blog or to an article youve written in the past.

Facebook notifications are a definite plus in this regard. It could be that there’s some kind of bug letting screenshots out if you dont share them as well.

Facebooks automatic notifications may not be as good as they should be, but they are still a good thing to have when youre working on something new. You dont want to forget something youve done in the past, and a Facebook notification is a great way to pull it back in.

Facebook says that it does send you notifications when you post pictures to the blog, but they don’t say what kind of picture they are checking for.

Thats one of the things that makes me think FB is worse than Google. Google gives you the option to include “notification” in your post, but FB just says that youve shared it. And if you dont include it, they don’t tell you what kind of notification they are looking for. So you have no way of knowing if youve shared a good one or not.

But, if you have a pic with a picture of your cat, you know and can be quite certain that youve shared it. If you dont, they dont.

But then again, if you have a screenshot that doesnt have your cat in it, then it doesnt have a good one either.
